About Wavedog Designs
love of the ocean
Inspirational surf art that's wearable. At Wavedog Designs I offer for sale, wave, ocean and beach inspired printed T-shirts as well as printed canvas art and, in some cases, the original paintings.
My Design Process
My art is inspired by my love of wave riding. Mostly created after an amazing surf session. Each print is taken from one of my original hand painted acrylic on canvas paintings. I then take the image and digitalize it, enabling me to apply a variety of filters and effects. The end result offers a stunning array of images from the original canvas painting. This image is then printed onto a T-shirt or canvas through a third party.
About the Artist.
Living in the Redwood Forest of the California coast with my amazing and beautiful wife of 17 years. We enjoy our days together spending time in nature with our best mate, a Boston Terrier named Figgs Mcnewton.
Growing up in Australia my greatest escape was always the beach. The freedom and thrill of the waves the purest joy. On moving to California in 2005 by this time my 20-year love of surfing had become an obsession.
After returning from a magical surf session one autumn afternoon, I was so excited and inspired that I wanted to capture the moment to remember. This led to my first painting of waves on a piece of California driftwood in watercolors. The enjoyment I received throughout the process was very Zen like and surprised me. The ability to relive some of the special moments I have experienced riding waves is like a time machine for me. I wanted to be able to share my stoke. That became the motivation for Wavedog Designs.

After years of wearing surf company clothing I decided it was time to walk away from promoting big corporate interests and wear my own art instead. I could combine my love of surf art and the need to wear a shirt. I hope you find a wave or image that catches you. I’d be both honored and stoked if you would like to cover up in one too.
